Alliance Française/ABEI and Connie Fredericks-Malone at Randle Highlands, Ketcham, Burroughs, and River Terrace Elementary Schools
Randle Highland Elementary School
On Thursday, May 10 and Friday, May 11, 2007, the Alliance Française de Washington, in partnership with DC Public Schools, demonstrated the language program it provides in local schools using the music of African-American blues and gospel singer, Carole Fredericks.
The Anne Bujon Educational Initiative sends native French-speaking teachers into schools to offer a rich mixture of language instruction, music, drama and other activities.
As part of its innovative outreach, the Alliance/ABEI is working with the Carole D. Fredericks Foundation to bring a musical component to its language instructional program. The pedagogical program based on Frederick's songs and music videos can be adapted for different class levels.
